The Notre Dame Cathedral is a very historical and popular cathedral in Paris. It was constructed and completed in 1345 and it embodies a French Gothic architecture. Today the Notre Dame Cathedral is home to the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris and it has hosted several significant ceremonies.

This opera house, officially known as the Palais Garnier was the primary home to classical ballet (the Paris Opera Ballet), up until 1989. It now hosts many performances of opera and concerts. Its monumental style, grand staircase and colorful, marble interior makes this house exceptionally beautiful.

Called the Bridge of Arts, the lover locks as shown on the picture are left by couples from all over the world to signify their unbreakable bond. The cermonial is accomplished by putting the names on the lock and throwing the key into the Seine River. The city of love seems like an appropriate place for them, don’t you think?!

Saint Eustache Church - 1st Arrondissement, Paris on Flickr.
Having taken a century to build, this imposing Gothic structure makes up the Saint Eustache Church in Paris, facing us on from its southern entrance. In front of it lies a little plaza, the Place de René Cassin, where you can notice a small sculpture consisting of a giant head and its sole hand, representing a listening man. This shows very well how the mixture of religion, history and architecture can be a wonderful combination, especially in Paris!

La Sorbonne University - 5th Arrondissement, Paris on Flickr.
Formerly part of the University of Paris, a historic complex of universities dating back to the mid-12th century and one of the first to be established in Europe, this edifice now houses various higher education institutions that are legacy from the previous entity after it split up. The area has not changed much for students, who still walk to class along its famed streets, talking about their days.
